Join a scenic walk from Valsvatnet to Gålåvatnet, inspired by Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. On this easy forest trail, you’ll encounter well-known characters such as Peer, Solveig, and the Green-Clad Woman—brought to life through powerful voices, music, and nature. Set aside around 45 minutes and let the story and surroundings merge into a unique experience. Please note: the audio guide is available in Norwegian only

“If it may be of interest, Peer Gynt is a real person who lived in Gudbrandsdalen, at the end of the last century or the beginning of this one,” wrote Henrik Ibsen to his publisher in 1867.

On this walking tour from Valsvatnet to Gålåvatnet, you will encounter Peer Gynt, his mother, the Green-Clad Woman, Ingrid from Hægstad farm, and Solveig.

This is an easy walk through the forest with several cultural stops along the way. Don’t rush—take your time, pause, and absorb the full experience, allowing the play, the music, and the surroundings to come together in the best possible way.

Please note: the audio guide is available in Norwegian only

The walk itself can be completed in about 20 minutes, but with all the content included, you should expect around 45 minutes from start to finish.

The tour begins at Valsvatnet, just beyond the old hotel.
