Welcome aboard our traditional wooden boats Frøya, Himinglæva, and Bylgja, all built in the UNESCO-recognized clinker boat tradition. Experience an unforgettable journey along the Nidelva River, flowing through the heart of Trondheim.

Perfect for small groups, this river cruise offers a personal and authentic way to experience the city from the water. The journey begins through the canal area, home to the Coastal Society’s impressive collection of historic wooden and iron boats dating from the early 1700s up until today — a living reminder of Trondheim’s proud maritime traditions and coastal culture.

From there, we continue past Brattøra, Trondheim’s newest harbor district, where modern architecture, harbor life, and the fjord meet the city. Along the route, you will also pass Skansen, once the old harbor located outside the original city walls and an important gateway for trade and coastal life throughout Trondheim’s history.

As we continue further up the river, you will discover the colorful historic wharves stretching along the riverbanks, standing on wooden pillars above the water as they have for centuries. You will also sail beneath the famous Old Town Bridge with its red “portals of happiness,” connecting the old city with the charming neighborhood of Bakklandet.

Throughout the cruise, our passionate local captains and guides will share stories both old and new, giving you a closer connection to Trondheim’s history, culture, people, and life along the river.

Whether you are visiting Trondheim for the first time or rediscovering your hometown from the water, we warmly welcome you aboard for a peaceful and memorable experience on one of Norway’s most beautiful urban waterways.
